Parental Engagement

St Peters London Docks Parental Engagement Team.

St Peter’s understands the importance of effective parental engagement and the benefits to the school, the children and their families.

The St Peters Parental engagement team has the following aims;

To provide a comprehensive range of activities that;

  • directly impact the achievement of pupils
  • inform parents to enable them to support their child’s learning and development
  • enhance the curriculum through a broad range of experiences
  • support families to access a range of services and experiences
  • Raise funds for school projects

Last year we held a number of events and courses.

Big Breakfast

In March, the PET organised a big breakfast for our parents and children. Ashlyns, the schools lunch provider worked hard to provide a delicious menu of full English breakfast and lots of other options.

“Let’s Get Chatting”

Last summer we ran a six week course for parents who were interested in learning conversational English. The class provided a convenient and comfortable meeting place for parents with various levels of English to come together and look at books and learn how to use different words and understand their children better.

At the end of the six weeks, parents received a certificate, and were encouraged to attend ESOL classes, which the PET will be providing over the autumn term.

Garden Party

The St Peter’s Garden Party was a huge success. Each class held a stall and parents and children enjoyed bouncy castles, henna, a bbq and lots of other fun and games.

Coffee mornings

The cake competition in aid of McMillan coffee morning was well stocked with delicious cakes made by children and parents. The head and chair of governors had the tough tasting task, deciding on a winner!

Triple P

This parenting course was well attended and run by the local authority parental engagement team. Feedback was very positive

Cookery club

Parents and children learned about healthy eating and how to use cooking time to interact with their children.
